Overview of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Wireless Networks
We offer several different wireless networks throughout Chemistry (exception of the lecture halls at the east end of the 1st floor, which is covered by campus "UCSB Wireless Web" network) and PSBN (with the exception of the 1st and 2nd floor instructional labs, which is also covered by campus "UCSB Wireless Web" network) and the Administrative trailer, Building 232.
For Faculty, Staff, Postdocs and Graduate Students:
ChemBiochem - The ChemBiochem wireless network is intended for registered laptops and desktop computers that require unfiltered, full internet access and have appropriate local firewall and anti-virus tools installed and updated on their devices. Users must have an active @chem.ucsb.edu username/password to use this wireless network.
ChemBiochemMobile - The ChemBiochemMobile wireless network is intended for mobile devices like iPads, iPods, iPhones, tablet etc. that require basic internet access behind a firewalled network. No registration of your device is necessary. Users must have an active @chem.ucsb.edu username/password to use this wireless network.
For Undergraduate Students, Visitors, Guests and UCSB affiliates:
ChemBiochemGuest - The ChemBiochemGuest wireless network is an open network for all devices belonging to visitors, guests, undergraduate students and other affiliates that require basic internet access behind a firewalled network. After connecting to this network, use your UCSBNetID or the Guest Voucher credentials supplied to you by the Chem/Biochem IT Help Desk, or those posted in the conference area in which you are located.
