UCSB-MS MASS RES
Spectrometer Reservation Sytem Help
The UCSB-MS Spectrometer Schedules and Calendars may be accessed ONLY
by authorized users.
Reserving and Unreserving time:
-
If the time when the schedule was last updated on
your browser (the time shown in red at the top of the schedule)
is not very recent, then click on Refresh Schedule to reload the
most recent schedule.
-
To reserve/unreserve time, you MUST type in your Login and PassWord (PW).
-
To sign up for time, click on the square next to the time period that you
want to reserve. Time periods start at the time specified in the left column
and last for 10 minutes.
-
To cancel your reservation, click on the square next to your name for the
time period that you want to unreserve. You may NOT cancel reservations
made by other users. Time periods start at the time specified in the left
column and last for 10 minutes.
-
You may also type in the START and END time of your request at the beginning
of the schedule. Accepted times are "1:00" to "1:09" in 9-minute increments.
This will reserve the full 10-minute time slot from 1:00 to 1:10. The
next user will begin at 1:10. Also specify "add" or "delete",
and "am" or "pm". For example, the following request will reserve the entire
evening (until 7:59 the next morning):
add delete
START: 9:30 pm
END: 7:59 am
-
To submit your schedule request, click on Submit Request.
-
The schedule program will ACCEPT your request and show you the new schedule,
or it will REJECT your request and explain why this occured.
Reasons why your schedule request can be REJECTED:
-
You didn't accurately type your Login or PassWord.
-
You tried to delete a reservation made by another user.
-
The schedule that you were using was out of date, and another user has
already reserved the same time that you wanted to reserve. If you encounter
this problem, the program will automatically reload the most recent schedule.
To avoid this problem, Click on Refresh Schedule BEFORE you start
to reserve/unreserve time.
-
The Schedule is processing a request by another user. Each schedule request
requires a few moments of computer processing, during which time no other
user may also submit a request. If you encounter this problem, just try
again; the request that was being processed will probably be finished before
your second try. If you consistiently have difficulty submitting a reservation,
contact the MS Facility Staff---the web server may have crashed, causing
access problems.
-
You tried to type in the START and END times, but:
-
you specified only a START or END time, but not both.
-
you typed in characters other than digits and the ":" character for the
START or END times.
-
you typed in a time that has hours > 12 or minutes > 59.
-
you didn't specify "am" or "pm" for the START and END times.
-
you didn't specify "add" or "delete".
-
your end time preceeds your start time. Note that the schedule's day starts
at 8:00 am and ends at 7:50 am the next morning. Therefore, requests such
as "starting at 7:00 am and ending at 8:00 am" are not accepted, since
7:00 am is 23 hours after 8:00 am. You can reserve "7:00
am to 7:59am" by starting at 7:00 am and ending at 7:50 am.
Other Features:
