Welcome to the Hayton group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Our research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of transition metal, lanthanide, and actinide complexes. In each of these areas we try to isolate unique complexes and understand their fundamental properties and bonding. We are also interested in the many potential applications of these materials, including small molecule activation, catalysis, and nuclear fuel clean-up.
Hayton Group News and Events January 2012 - Jeremiah, Richard and Ash presented their research at the Metals in Biology Gordon Research Seminar. Januray 2012 - Skye's research was highlighted in the 2011 Organometallics Roundtable. September 2011 - Congratulations to Richard on receiving a fellowship from UCSB! August 2011 - Congratulations to Lani and Jessie for winning 2011 Innovations in Fuel Cycle Research Awards. March 2011 - Dave, Lani, Ash, Richard, and Jessie presented at the Anaheim ACS meeting.
Group meetings: Thursdays, 5-7pm in Chem 1005D
